Background

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has announced that of the recent 90,718 metric tons raw value increase in the fiscal year 2020 raw cane sugar tariff-rate quota, 80,000 MTRV is being allocated to Brazil and 10,718 MTRV is being allocated to Australia. The Department of Agriculture previously announced that all sugar entering the U.S. under this TRQ may enter through Oct. 31, 2020, a month later than the usual last entry date. In addition, raw cane sugar entering under this TRQ must be accompanied by a certificate for quota eligibility.
