HON JERRY WELLER is a senior advisor to Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. With an extensive background in federal and state legislative service he provides advice and counsel on legislative strategies for firm clients.
Mr. Weller served as U.S. Representative for Illinois 11th District from 1995-2009. In the House he served as Deputy House Majority Whip and president of historic class of 1994, representing this influential group on the powerful House Republican Steering Committee that appoints members to their committee assignments. He also served on the Ways and Means Committee and its trade subcommittee, where he emerged as a leading advocate for expanded trade in the Western Hemisphere, helped lead efforts to ratify the CAFTA-DR and Peru free trade agreements, and supported the ratification of the Colombia, South Korea and Panama FTAs. His House service also included terms as vice-chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee’s Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, chair of the House Republican Working Group on Latin America and the Caribbean, co-chair of the U.S.-Panama Caucus and the Caribbean Caucus, chair of the Sri Lanka Caucus and participant in the annual U.S.-Mexico Inter-Parliamentary Exchange.
Before serving in Congress, Mr. Weller served as an aide to the U.S. secretary of agriculture in Illinois, maintained involvement in the family farm and served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1988 to 1994.
Mr. Weller currently serves on the advisory boards for SG Biofuels of San Diego and Trend Media City of Lagos, Nigeria. He also serves as global development officer and member of the board of directors for a leading IPTV provider, VIPTV, with subscribers in 40 countries.
Mr. Weller graduated from the University of Illinois.
